Patryk Dabek

Yale Program Director

Patryk Dabek is a sophomore studying Biology and Economics as a double major and is a co-founder of the Yale Chapter of USVH. After working with local legislators to develop a public health program to decrease youth violence and veteran suicide in New Haven, Patryk was determined to develop a community at Yale that would continue to serve veterans. Through USVH, he hopes to inspire other students to think about those who have served around them and to give back. Outside of USVH, Patryk is the Deputy Chief of Service for Yale EMS, an undergraduate organization and a state-licensed EMS agency, where he works to support student health. He also works as a research assistant in a genetics lab at the VA and leads Smiles of Solidarity, a nonprofit aimed at bringing health equity to migrants. In his free time, Patryk enjoys playing beach volleyball, fly fishing, and working on cars with his dad.

Joseph Ismail

Administrative Director

Joseph Ismail is a second-year molecular biophysics and biochemistry major on a pre-med track at Yale. Outside of class he spends his time training with the Yale Air Force ROTC detachment, conducting infectious disease research at the Yale Medical School, and is currently working towards a private pilot’s license and EMT certification. He looks forward to further engaging with the local veteran community.

Maya

Events Director

Maya is a sophomore studying the History of Science, Medicine and Public health and is one of the founding members of USVH’s Yale Chapter. During high school, she volunteered in the intensive care units of several New York hospitals and formed connections with a variety of patients from differing backgrounds, several of which served in the armed forces. This experience was formative and rewarding, and is what sparked her interest in engaging with USVH. Through Yale’s chapter, she hopes to give back to the veteran community, spread awareness, and further educate herself. Aside from her studies and USVH, Maya enjoys playing club soccer, volunteering with New Haven high school students, campaigning for STEM education reform with SHEA, conducting immunobiological research, and hiking with her dog.
